Greetings from the Memorial University Campus Food Strategy Group!

The MUN CFSG has progressed significantly over the past two years. The
group has worked on mapping out the campus food system and developing
a strong network of the involved stakeholders. Through this, many
great things have happened.

The CFSG has identified a number of potential areas for Applied
Student Research Projects and this area is emerging as a key focus for
the group. We have encountered some dedicated individuals who are
taking initiative to help get some of these projects going. We hope to
begin work on a baseline assessment very soon. The MUN CFSG is also
helping to coordinate work on increasing the capacity of some local
community gardens.

Another main focus of ours is ensuring the continuation of our group
through establishing and developing a volunteer base as well as
searching for funding and institutionalization opportunities.

One past coordinator has been very involved in helping the Graduate
Students’ pub on campus, Bitters, achieve a certification in
sustainable foodservice from LEAF. The pub was recently named one of
the greenest restaurants in Canada.

The current coordinators for the MUN CFSG are Emma Langley

Please be in touch with us if you have any questions or comments or if
you’d like to get involved with our group!
