Coursework has the ability to bring together the academic and operational side of campuses. Faculty, students, and the resources they generate together are some of the strongest assets universities have in changing the way their campus runs. Through Applied Research, students and professors alike can dig in to the barriers and opportunities of a campus and its surroundings, and help make real improvements.
To see some ideas of how to use student (and faculty!) research to get more local sustainable food onto campus, check out the Applied Student Research Toolkit.
If you already have courses, academic resources, or initiatives that relate to increasing local sustainable food on campus, send us a message at food@syc-cjs.org. We’d love to help spread the word about the work you’re already doing on your campus!
